There are several nice ambience cafés (19號咖啡館 - 好樣秘境 - 八卦夜未眠) available at Yangmingshan and one of them is No. 19 Café. It is located about 3 hours walk from Cing Tian Gang (擎天崗) or if you are to take the buses like what we did, you can take bus #15 at Cing Tian Gang (擎天崗) and transit to another feeder bus at bus stop 山猪湖 before taking bus #303 to“ International TV Station” (國際電台). From there, you can walk in to the Café. If you are coming via MRT, you may take bus # 303 from Jiantan station to “International TV Station” (國際電台). Alternatively, one can drive up the mountain to arrive at the café. While arriving at the entrance, you will be greeted by a Winnie the Pooh in a vehicle. The place is rustic and a little mythical feel because of the decors and the set-up. |
This café is always crowded with wedding couples coming here for photo-taking because there are several great photo-taking spots available within the café’s premises. The main dining area is a converted one-story house with open and spacious dining concept. It is divided into several different themes beautifully decorated. It brings out a cozy ambience which makes us feel relaxed. One particular sector which I love to hang out chilling on the sofa in front of the stone fireplace while sipping coffee and reading magazines.
The café is also being very considerate as they provide free mosquito repellent for usage as they noticed some mosquitoes in the premises because of the recent raining days. There is also no time limit but minimum spending of 1 beverage per pax is needed. Do note that there is no service charge so what you see if what you pay for.
The main courses were decent but not very impressive to praise or to remember about the food. The Japanese curry we had was interesting in taste while the chicken roll was rich in filling and that is about it~. Perhaps because we were really hungry hikers, we finished the food really quickly without much appreciation. On the other hand, the coffee is good as I noticed that the café uses siphon brewers for brewing. It is robust in taste for a coffee lover.

We started moving around the café for photo-taking session.
With the café located at such rural area, it is no longer just about the food’s taste but more importantly is on the decoration which creates deep visual impression and comfortable ambience. For this, I think No. 19 Café has fulfilled so. The food might be mediocre but the picturesque surroundings make it a pleasant escape from the city life. I would wish to return to the café and literally spend an afternoon there relaxing.
TO NOTE: Café do not accept credit card payment and do not have WIFI available in the premises.
