Was settling between the Yung Kee and the Yat Lok Roasted Duck. In the end, we picked the Yung Kee as it was recommended as the best roasted goose in Hong Kong. Surprisingly, the roast duck was SUPER expensive at approximately 400HKD for the platter. However, the quality was really good. Meanwhile, i also walked to the Lan Fang Yuan for their famous Milk Tea (Because it was an upslope and so, i left the boy and ladies at the restaurant waiting.) After lunch, we went to meet up the tour agency at the designated spot, to guide us to the peak, as well as to give us the discounted tickets that we have bought from the agency itself. The walk to the Peak wasn't that bad because of the route that the tour guide took. They cut through several aircon buildings to minimise our exposure to the hot and glaring sun. We visited the TrickEye Museum (Awaiting for photos from Karine's phone) . The trickeye museum was kinda of small and quite similar to the one that we have in Singapore. The only difference is the Hong Kong specialty that has the Giant Buddha and some scenery of HK coastline. We also visited the Wax Museum. There was some new additions from our last view in 2013 or 2014. The additions were the marvel and chinese superheroes! Picture speaks a thousand words! Of course, we went to the Sky Terence 360 to view the scenery, and the signature photo with the year of visit! Dinner @ Da Jia Le! Despite the lack of sleep from the two nights of gambling, i woke up upon request of my dearest wife and walked 4000 steps to buy back breakfast for the boy and the ladies. First stop. Margaret's cafe for its egg tarts, then to the famous porridge store in front of the Nv Wa Temple, and then to another famous noodle store. The noodle was so-so except that the dumpling soup was really good, the porridge was awesome. Should have eaten porridge for breakfast! After the breakfast, dilly dally took our time to check-out, and then took the free shuttle bus to Outer Ferry Terminal. Reached Hong Kong Ferry Terminal at Kowloon, and took MTR to our B&B at YMT. Had dinner at the Four Seasons Claypot at Temple Street. Initially wanted to try the other famous one, but there were too many clones at the same street. Hence, we were not sure which one is the authentic one, and so we settled for Four Seasons Claypot. The claypot and the oyster pancakes were good and worth a try! So get one when you are there. We had a simple breakfast at the eatery store just located at the side of our hotel. The food was nothing worth to be mentioned. So next... After breakfast, we took the shuttle bus from hotel to Outer Ferry Terminal, and then transits to The Venetican. If you still don't know, you could probably save money on transportation if you planned your trip well. Major hotels have free shuttle buses to the various departure terminals. So google well! The Venetian is a total replication of the Venice in Italy. Its one of the must visit in Macau, with its largest and posh-est casino in Macau. There is another project known as "The Parisian" coming up. I think it is worth visiting when the project completes in 20xx? In Venetian, you can also find the Lord Stow's Bakery and Cafe. This is the outlet from its original store located at one end of Macau. The eggtart is worth consuming. Do not miss it! Thereafter, we also went to eat at its food court. Yeah right, food court. Its food court is really not bad and you should visit in your next trip. There's the Tai Lei Loi Kei outlet in the food court, famous for its Pork Burger. It is kinda of expensive (like 60hkd) and its really not worth it. Do not try it despite the fact that this brand is famous. (Apparently, they open a new store in Vivocity, Singapore. Will try it when i pass by it.) Visited the casino twice during the trip to Venetian. First 10minutes with MIL, won about 200hkd. Second time about 30minutes with wife, lose back 200hkd. HAHA! Breakeven! We went back to Hotel at around 1700hrs, and had a dinner around the same noodle store area. We overheard a local talking about this seafood restaurant (Hun Kei Seafood) and we decided to give it a try, despite have no reviews from Googling about it. So here comes the review. The food is .... awesome. We ordered fried intestines, fried "goose" and vegetables. The food were really good! On the way back, stopped by a dessert store which looks good from all his newspaper cutting pasted. But beware, it wasn't that good at all, at least for the black sesame paste that we ordered! Then ended off the day with another round of casino of Bai Jia Le at our hotel, in which i lose about 1.2kHKD summing up my total damage to 200hkd from losing in Casino. I think losing 200hkd only is remarkable for my two days of casino-ing. If you ever visited a casino, you can really see people gamble until quite jialat, one round could lose few k one. So i'm considered remarkable IMHO. HAHA Finally, our long-awaited long trip to Hong Kong and Macau. Woke up early in the morning, did our final packing for our luggage, so here we go, to MIL place to pick her up and off to the airport. Abit of hiccups to start the day, because the taxi uncle was frustrated because we did not tell him that we are going to Seng Kang first prior going to Airport. He was rushing to hand over his duty but since we are already in the taxi, he LL has to fetch us. The initial part of the journey was pure grumbling from that indian uncle, but the ending was fine when the traffic was good and he was on time to hand over his duty. This time round, we took SIA to Hong Kong, as we managed to offset the tickets by about 300bucks due to our accumulated krisflyer miles from signing off our wedding dinner in 2013 =P. A kind surprise from SIA when we mentioned that this is our anniversary trip, a cake for us! That was really nice of SIA! Upon arriving at HKIA, our plan was to directly take the ferry to Macau primarily due to the fact that you can now board ferry to Macau directly from HKIA. Waited in HKIA for about three hours, and here we go off to Macau! There was really nothing much to do at the arrival hall. We had a simple lunch and then sat and waited for the ferry timing. The good thing about transferring directly is that we do not even have to fetch our luggage and check in to the ferry. This was done seamlessly without out knowledge, when we just pass our SIA luggage tag to the receptionist when we booked our ferry ticket. *Note, the luggage collection at Macau is messy. There's not much checking when you took your luggage, meaning that someone could probably walk away with your luggage and you wouldn't even realised it! We took the ferry to Taipa Ferry Terminal which was apparently the wrong decision. We are going to stay at Sofitel Porte 16 and they only have shuttle bus to the Outer Ferry Terminal. So from here, we took a cab to the hotel which costs about 80HKD and it passes through the Outer Ferry Terminal. We mentioned in our booking that this trip was meant to celebrate my birthday, and the hotel was nice enough to upgrade our hotel room to a junior suite, which was really really nice. The suite was great with two rooms (like a bridal suite), so it was good as there was a sofa for me to sleep on (we booked a two person room as it was under promotion). The hotel even provided us with an mobile phone whereas free mobile broadband and free local calls and international calls to Hong Kong and Australia. The view from the room was awesome, overlooking the Macau on the left, and Zhu Hai on the right. After a short wash-up, we made our way out for dinner and nice scenery at Senado Square and St. Paul's Ruin. We had dinner at one of the famous noodle stall between our hotel and Senado Square (Xiang Ji Mian Jia). The noodle was good but i kinda of like the dumpling better. Not to forget, the salmon skin that you should try! After the dinner, took a short walk to Senado Square. There was an event that night, some singing event that brought much more life to the night. The ruin was crowded as usual, and we ended of the night with the Yee Shun Milk Company! According to google, this milk company actually originated from Macau and that is the first store! Ok, we didn't end the night from here. MIL and I went to casino to play till around 2am. The secondary reason why I picked this hotel besides its good pricing and location, and is due to the fact that there is casino in the hotel. First night in Casino was good. Won about 1k HKD from playing Bai Jia Le. Keep on striking until the auntie besides me got fascinated by me and kept looking at what i'm betting on. I also discovered more ways of gambling in this game in the second night. If i discovered how to play it the way i did in second night, i could have won more in first day! Yes in first day, cuz i lose back all the money + 200hkd more in the second night =P |
